I was born in the Vail Valley of Colorado where my father was an outfitter and cattle rancher. I spent part of my childhood there and part of it in Northern California. I’ve always hunted, always been an obsessive outdoorsman. These days I guide in Oregon, Colorado, Idaho, and several other western states. In the off-season I live in Puerto Rico because I’m an obsessive spearfisherman on the personal side.
I was exposed to hunting, fishing, and the outdoors constantly as a kid, but I did step away for a bit and worked in the finance world as a complete mathematical dork doing algorithmic trading. I lived in some of the most dense places in the country and pretty quickly figured out that wasn’t going to work for my soul. I’ve always been a rural kid, so I came back to this life in my mid-20s and started guiding and outfitting, and for a period of time I ran one of the bigger wilderness outfitting businesses in North America.
A lot of my content is about helping people become better hunters, but it goes way beyond that. Getting folks outside, healthier, and focused on a real goal gives them direction and improves their life across the board. I genuinely believe that.
I’m most known for my expertise and how-to content in the western big-game hunting world. Elk is what people usually associate me with, but I’ve guided dozens of bighorn sheep hunts, mountain goat hunts, and bear hunts. At this point I’ve personally guided well over a hundred big-game hunts, and the businesses I’ve owned or operated have conducted well over a thousand wilderness big-game hunts with clients.
My favorite Invader Concepts product is the Recon chest holder. It’s the one I use the most, and I run it with several different pistols.
