Sofia Espina is a competitive shooter, defensive firearms instructor, and content creator whose work centers around becoming more capable when it actually matters.
Based in Utah, her background spans USPSA competition, weapons-based combatives, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, concealed carry, and real-world self-defense. What started as a personal pursuit of becoming harder to victimize evolved into teaching, competing, and creating content designed to help other people build practical skills with more confidence.
She is also representing Team USA at the 2026 IPSC Shotgun World Shoot, bringing the same mindset she applies to defensive training into high-level competition.
Her lane is where shooting, combatives, preparedness, and practical gear all overlap, with an emphasis on what actually works outside of perfect conditions. That’s also why the Invader Concepts Recon holster has become one of her go-to setups for hiking and exploring Utah: it gives her a secure, accessible way to carry while moving through terrain where a traditional waistband setup is not always the best fit.
And in a completely different direction, Sofia has played violin since she was five years old, which feels oddly full-circle now that one of her shotgun loading positions is literally called the “violin load!”
